10 Last Minute Conference Tips For Poker & Casino Affiliates
This it, your last week to get ready and tie up loose ends before the industries largest iGaming Conference in the world, London Affiliate Conference. Someone who has been attending iGaming conferences since the old days at the Stardust in Las Vegas is Jeremy Enke from Poker Affiliate Listsings so we called on him to share some tips for those affiliates who will be enjoying next week in one of the best cities in the world.
1. Confirm your travel arrangements – It sounds like a no brainer, but until you’ve shown up at a conference and realized your hotel reservation is messed up and all other hotels are booked, you’ll appreciate double checking this ahead of time. Same goes for your airfare, dinner reservations.
2. Make sure you have an a phone that works in London – Call your cell phone carrier and confirm that your phone has the proper SIM Card and will work in London. Likewise don’t take some customer service rep’s word for it. Do your research and make sure it works. Being stuck in a foreign country for a week without a phone sucks.
3. Call your bank – If you haven’t traveled out of your home country lately, you may not be aware of this. However many banks now freeze your debit card as soon as they see a transaction come through from a foreign country. This is a major pain in the ass, especially if you combine this with not taking the advice in #2. Call you bank ahead of time and simple let them know the dates you’ll be gone.
4. Make a Schedule – Don’t just show up at the conference without a game plan. More than likely if you do this, you’re going to miss some great speaker sessions or the opportunity to speak with affiliate managers of the programs you promote. Here is the full schedule of events.
5. Schedule Appointments – This is the only way to ensure that you will absolutely get enough face time with the operators and affiliate managers you need to speak with. If you haven’t done so yet, email the top 5 AM’s you want to meet with TODAY and get some time reserved.
6. Bring An Extra Suitcase – If you’re one of those affiliates who loves to stock up on all the great freebies that our beloved programs give out at these conferences, make sure you bring an extra bag to transport this stuff back. Nothing is worse than having a bunch of awesome gaming swag and no way to get it home.
7. First In Wins – If you can, get to the conference as soon as the doors open on Day 1! This will allow you to meet and schedule any last minute meetings with AM’s. Plus, if you are a #6’r, all the good stuff is gone by the end of day 1!
8. Parties –Parties – And More Parties – If there is one thing I have learned attending Igaming conferences is that there is no shortage of parties. Even if you’re not a party animal, it’s worth checking out these first class experiences that the sponsors provide. Also, if you ask around, there’s usually some VIP or private parties you can get yourself into if you’re into a more relaxed setting.
9. Network With Other Affiliates – This should actually be the #1 tip! While it’s important to meet with operators and affiliate programs, some of my best business deals and education at conferences has come from chatting over beers with other affiliates. Don’t fly solo during the conference, make plans to meet up with, hang out, and travel the conference floor with other affiliates now.
10. Be Safe & Make The Most Out Of Your Time – First and foremost, your liver is in for a workout! With that said, be safe and don’t do anything that is going to embarrass you for years to come. Likewise you’re in London at the largest Igaming Conference in the world……Don’t be that guy that misses all the speaker sessions or your meeting because you slept in all afternoon.
There’s plenty of time to sleep when you’re dead! Take advantage of all this conference has to offer!
