Meet the Manager: 1xBet's Ranm Medina
Ranm Medina shares his career trajectory into affiliate management, his most valuable lessons along the way and what inspires and recharges him when he’s not building and driving affiliate relationships for 1xPartners.
How did you end up being an affiliate manager in the igaming sector?
I didn’t really plan to become an affiliate manager. I started out in PR and marketing, and gradually realised that the skills are quite similar. It’s all about understanding people, communicating clearly and building trust.
Affiliate management just makes the results of those relationships more visible. For me, it felt less like changing careers and more like taking what I already enjoyed into a new area.
Which parts of your job do you feel most energised and excited by?
The chance to work with people from different cultures across LatAm. Every market has its own humour, habits and way of doing business, so there’s always something new to learn.
An idea that works really well in one country might completely miss the mark in another. I enjoy figuring out those differences and finding an approach that feels natural, rather than forced.

What sets 1XPartners apart from other igaming affiliate programmes and why should affiliates work with you?
I think it’s the balance between having a large international programme and still keeping the relationship personal. Since we represent a world-famous brand, it makes driving traffic and converting players much easier for our partners, especially in markets like LatAm.
Affiliates can work with RevShare, CPA or Hybrid deals, follow their performance through regularly updated statistics and receive weekly payments.
They also have access to tracking tools and creatives, including custom materials when needed. My role is to make sure those tools actually work for the individual partner, rather than expecting everyone to follow the same approach.
Of all the mistakes you’ve made in your career, which one do you think you learned most from?
Probably trying to find solutions before I had listened properly. Earlier in my career, I sometimes thought I understood the problem too quickly.
I’ve learned to slow down, ask more questions and really understand the situation first. It sounds simple, but it has made a big difference to both my work and the relationships I build.

Tell us something people don’t know about you or would be surprised to know.
A couple of years ago, I discovered an unexpected passion for writing. Since then, it has become one of the most rewarding parts of my life.
I’ve had the chance to publish my first two novels, which was both challenging and very fulfilling. Seeing a story go from a small idea in my head to a finished book is still one of the things I’m most proud of personally.
Describe your perfect day off…
Honestly, I like getting away from my computer and out of my apartment, because it often doubles as my office.
A perfect day off would probably include watching a new film at the cinema and continuing to explore Mexico City, which has become home for me over the past few years. Nothing too complicated – just a day that helps me reset.

What book, movie or TV show do you find yourself coming back to time and time again, and why?
Without a doubt, Nomadland is one of the films I come back to. It reminds me of the beauty and fragility of the human experience, and of how important it is to keep searching for your place in the world, even when the path is uncertain.
As someone who loves film, I also admire the way it tells so much through landscapes, silence and small everyday moments. It feels very honest, and that stays with me.
What are you personally most excited about for iGB L!VE?
The energy of the event. There’s something refreshing about having so many people from the industry in one place, sharing ideas and talking openly about what they’re seeing in different markets.
You usually leave with a fresh perspective and a few ideas you can genuinely take back into your work.
Ranm and the 1xPartners team will be based at 1xBet stand L20 during the show and you can also book meetings via the iGB Live app.
