Casino Guru to boost Nigerian player protection with Gamble Alert

Founded by former Oyo State Gaming Board head of operations Fisayo Oke, Gamble Alert is a Nigeria-based responsible gambling organisation dedicated to preventing gambling-related harm through education, research, treatment, advocacy and industry engagement. It works with regulators, operators, communities, researchers and mental health professionals to promote safer gambling practices and strengthen player protection standards across Africa.

Šimon Vincze, head of sustainable & safer gambling at Casino Guru, highlighted Gamble Alert’s “strong understanding of the local environment and valuable relationships with stakeholders in Nigeria”.

“Meaningful player protection depends on the knowledge and preparedness of the people making decisions inside the industry every day,” Vincze said. “By cooperating, we can make practical education easier to access and support operators that want to strengthen their approach to safer gambling.”

Under the partnership, the affiliate will roll out tailored initiatives and provide free courses from the Casino Guru Academy, while Gamble Alert will promote the resources through its network of professionals and communication channels. This will provide gambling industry stakeholders with access to training in areas such as safer gambling and suicide prevention.

Additional courses will cover topics including complaint handling, player verification and anti-money laundering. The two organisations will also exchange non-confidential insights on local priorities and international best practices, while exploring further collaboration opportunities such as operator-facing webinars, awareness campaigns and industry events to strengthen player protection standards across the market.

Oke added: “Africa's gambling markets are evolving rapidly, and player protection frameworks must evolve alongside them. At Gamble Alert, our work extends beyond awareness creation to include research, treatment, policy advocacy, industry training and stakeholder collaboration.”
