The affiliate’s Q2 revenue declined 19% year-on-year to €24.4 million (£21.1 million/$28.4 million) as the business continued to face headwinds in the Brazilian market and the lack of major sporting events in 2025.

Founded by Duncan Garvie in 2017, the charity provides a free app that blocks access to over 118,000 gambling websites and 1500 gambling apps for more than 150,000 active users. In 2024, it signed a strategic partnership with player protection-focused affiliate Casino Guru to integrate the gambling behaviour tool, and recently welcomed StatsDrone co-founders John Wright and Darrell Helyar to its board of trustees.

The initiative follows a 2023 survey by Finland’s Institute of Health and Welfare (THL), which estimated that 4.2% of the country’s population was engaged in moderate-risk or problem gambling. The collaboration aims to reduce friction in the user journey by strengthening the software’s support for Finnish players.

Commenting on the project, Simon Vincze, head of sustainable & safer gambling at Casino Guru, said the partnership is “established to promote efforts around cross-jurisdictional self-exclusion”.

“A proper global system is still far off, but BetBlocker is doing an excellent job of bringing a free and anonymous blocking solution to those who need it, no matter where they are. Casino Guru is proud to support this initiative, and we expect our collaboration to have a strong impact on responsible gambling in Finland,” Vincze added.

Garvie highlighted Casino Guru’s consistent role in leading “the affiliate market in terms of prioritising safer gambling”, including its development of the Global Self-Exclusion Initiative as a “worked example of how safer gambling messaging can be integrated into the affiliation business model”.

“We’re always happy to work with affiliates, and Casino Guru has made a real-world difference to thousands of people by supporting us to deliver the service in Finnish,” he said.
