A reminder about some of the changes that we made to the iGB Affiliate Awards process, which will continue in 2021:

  • Criteria: The criteria will be at the forefront of both the nomination and judging process. The criteria will also focus on the last 12 months and not before - the awards will be about momentum and not size.
  • The categories: There are 21 categories.
  • Nominations and voting: The nominations process will remain similar to previous years, however, the voting (which was open to abuse) has been dropped from the process. We now have a nominations board that will use the information supplied as well as their own industry knowledge to create a shortlist of no more than 7 candidates.
  • Judging: For judging the focus will be on the criteria, with points allocated to each item to drive accountability and transparency. There is an increased number of judges and have created a head judge for each category who is accountable for the final decision collated with the fellow judges. The judge’s decision will be final but the head judge will get involved if it’s a tie. The judges will also hold a Q&A with each shortlisted candidate, which will be recorded and made available for you to view. The judges will also create a document for each award that clearly defines why each winner won.
  • Everyone needs a ticket: The iGB Affiliate Awards 2021 is a paid for event, you are able to book individual tickets and VIP Tables.
  • VIP tables: If you want a little something extra, VIP tables will be available to book.

The iGB Affiliate Awards are hosted by iGB Affiliate; organisers of the iGB Affiliate event series and publishers of iGB Affiliate magazine.

Judges will be looking for:

  • Evidence of consistent ability to execute on behalf of affiliate clients, on time and on budget

  • Notable recent achievements and why you think your team deserves to win
  • A concise overview of the agency, number of staff including those dedicated to gaming, and main igaming affiliate clients

Marketing campaign of the year (ALL VERTICALS)

A strong marketing campaign can announce a new affiliate brand to the market, or reinvigorate interest in an existing one. For this category, the judging panel will look for entrants to chart the course of a campaign, from conception to delivery, and the ROI from these efforts.

The judges  will consider:

  • Target audience, objectives and budget
  • The planning phase - how did the campaign evolve to the point of delivery?
  • The execution phase - how the marketers dealt with challenges and ensured it could be delivered
  • Creative and innovative elements - what was new and that no one had thought of doing before
  • Results and evaluation - how this translated into revenue or traffic growth
  • How it was refined or adjusted to ensure its continued success

Best crypto affiliate

Cryptocurrency adoption is accelerating in the igaming space and some affiliates are embracing the role of catering to the sites and services that have left fiat currencies behind. This year’s iGB Affiliate Awards, for the first time, looks to reward those businesses.

This category will look at:

  • Growth in crypto partners
  • Growth in crypto traffic and conversions
  • How affiliates have used crypto and underlying blockchain technology to develop innovative new products and features, and evidence of these benefitting the business

Best payments solution

With affiliates reliant on receiving regular payments from operators working across multiple geographies, the judges will this year recognise the best payment solution for igaming affiliates based on the following:

  • The extent to which it has been tailored to and meets the specific needs of igaming affiliates
  • Efficiency, reliability and security as a payment solution for affiliates
  • Cost effectiveness
  • Accessibility of the payment system in other affiliate and ad networks
  • Customer support and problem solving

Best use of social media (ALL VERTICALS)

Social media offers access to a vast audience, but in a crowded field, which affiliate has used channels such as Facebook and Twitter in an engaging, effective and responsible way to drive traffic and deliver revenues for operators?

This category will be judged on:

  • Growth in followers across main platforms
  • Innovation in the type and delivery of content
  • Evidence of these efforts translating into growth in traffic and conversions
  • How this strategy has been adapted to comply with regulatory changes

Rising star (ALL VERTICALS)

The igaming affiliate space is crowded and highly competitive, but there will always be room for those who have a strong product and an effective strategy. We’re looking for all businesses – this could be an affiliate, programme, or SP - launched within the last three years that are already making their present felt in today’s igaming affiliate market.

In particular judges are looking for:

  • Evidence of growth in the past year
  • What differentiates the business from the wider industry
  • Those who have been able to put a new spin on tried-and-tested tactics, or an entirely new way of working
  • A robust strategy for growth, clear milestones, and how the business plans to meet them

Innovation award (ALL VERTICALS)

The past year forced major changes across the gaming industry, and things were no different for affiliates. The innovation award is therefore not looking for disruptive brands or products (these are covered by the Rising Star and Tech categories respectively) but for businesses that can demonstrate the challenges they faced – whether Covid-related, regulatory or otherwise - and the clever ways they addressed these.

The award will be judged on:

  • Solutions or approaches that offer something new to the market
  • Evidence of industry adoption
  • Problem solving - whether that’s for a new or existing product, responding with a change of approach or strategy or improving an existing offering

Game of the year (PUBLIC VOTE)

Game of the year is the exception to the rule, whilst other categories are based on one strong submission, the Game of the year will be won by how many votes the shortlisted game receives from the public via our polls.

This year’s shortlist has been provided by iGaming Tracker, which tracks hundreds of casino sites worldwide every day. The 10 best-performing games have been ranked across 22 countries, the vast position of which are regulated, with weightings applied to their position on the main casino lobby page, the site and the country.

Affiliate employer of the year (ALL VERTICALS)

This award will recognise the affiliate business that can demonstrate a commitment to the development and wellbeing of its workforce above and beyond its statutory duty. The judges will be looking to reward those that can demonstrate the following over the last 12 months:

  • Investment in the skills and personal development of every employee
  • A commitment to making this a great place to work for every employee
  • A commitment to treating all employees in a fair and equitable manner
  • The fostering of a modern and progressive workplace culture with the power to communicate the company’s values externally to attract and retain the best talent
  • How they kept the workforce motivated during a challenging 12 months
  • How this dedication to its workforce has benefitted the business

Safer gambling initiative of the year (ALL VERTICALS)

Tightening regulations across multiple markets suggest that lawmakers and the public believe more needs to be done to protect gamblers. While this initially falls on the operators, it is increasingly filtering through to their affiliate partners.

This category will take into account:

  • How the affiliate has promoted responsible gambling over the last 12 months
  • How the affiliate has taken steps to better protect players beyond what is required of them
  • End-user engagement in these initiatives
  • Evidence of it having a positive impact such as uptake of RG tools or services

Sustainability award (ALL VERTICALS)

In the era of the socially conscious consumer, businesses are increasingly looking to understand and improve the impact they have on the communities they serve. This presents an opportunity for affiliates to do more, whether that’s reducing their carbon footprint, supporting good causes, increasing diversity or evaluating and reporting on these efforts.

The sustainability award will therefore look at:

  • Work to adopt the UN sustainable development goals
  • Efforts to communicate sustainability efforts to stakeholders
  • The affiliate’s sustainability strategy
  • The results of this strategy

Affiliate Idol – AKA lifetime achievement award (in-house)

The final award goes beyond the past year, to look back at the careers of affiliates that have become an enduring fixture within the industry. Whether it’s through engagement with the wider sector, work with other affiliates, or sustained excellence and growth over a number of years, this award, judged by the iGB Affiliate team, will recognise the individual’s achievements.

It will be judged on:

  • Growth in traffic, revenue and conversions over an extended period
  • M&A - how they’ve grown, built or sold businesses
  • Engagement with the wider industry
  • How they have dealt with challenges along the way
  • How they have ‘given back’ to the wider affiliate community
