iGB Affiliate Awards

The iGB Affiliate Awards will once again take place during the London Affiliate Conference 2017. LAC is taking place between the 9th - 12th February 2017 at ExCel, London. For the second year running, the iGB Affiliate Awards will be free to attend for everyone registered for the London Affiliate Conference.

The underlying theme for the iGB Affiliate Awards 2017 will be momentum. Being the biggest is a great achievement, but the 2017 awards will be focused on what you have done to maintain and grow that position over the last 12 months and how that separates you from the rest of the crowd.

A reminder about some of the changes that we made to the iGB Affiliate Awards process in 2016, what will continue in 2017:

  • Criteria: The criteria will be at the forefront of both the nomination and judging process. The criteria will also focus on the last 12 months and not before - the awards will be about momentum and not size.
  • The categories: We have reduced the number of awards from 32 to 25.
  • Nominations and voting: The nominations process will be remain similar to previous years, however the voting (which was open to abuse) has been dropped from the process. We now have a nominations board that will use the information supplied as well as their own industry knowledge to create a shortlist of no more than 7 candidates.
  • Judging: For judging the focus will be on the criteria, with points allocated to each item to drive accountability and transparency. There is an increased number of judges and have created a head judge for each category who is accountable for the final decision collated with the fellow judges. The judge’s decision will be final but the head judge will get involved if it’s a tie. The judges will also hold a Q&A with each shortlisted candidate, which will be recorded and made available for you to view. The judges will also create a document for each award that clearly defines why each winner won.
  • Free to attend: The iGB Affiliate Awards 2017 will be all inclusive! The event is free to attend for everyone registered to attend the London Affiliate Conference.
  • VIP tables: If you want a little something extra, VIP tables will be available to book. These will include seating close to the stage and alcohol.

The iGB Affiliate Awards are hosted by iGB Affiliate; organisers of the iGB Affiliate event series and publishers of iGB Affiliate magazine.

You only have to look at the list of exhibitors at the iGB Affiliate events to see that competition between affiliate programs its at an all time high so its more important than ever to both stand out from the crowd and continually invest in your program and partners. This award will reward the affiliate programs that have done just this in the last 12 months; it is not about being the biggest, but about driving momentum in the last 12 months.

The judges will be marking against example criteria such as the below:

  • How has your program changed in the last 12 months?
  • How have you innovated in the last 12 months?
  • What have you done to improve your relationship with your affiliates?
  • What have you done to increase market share?
  • What have you done to increase player conversion and retention?
  • How have you helped your current affiliate base grow their earnings and business?
  • How have you improved how you support affiliates?
  • What have you done to attract and retain new affiliates?
  • Best affiliate program newcomer
  • Best affiliate newcomer

Since we launched the iGB Affiliate events 11 years ago we have continually heard  “the market is full and there is no space for newcomers” but  this is evidently wrong. Whether it’s through innovation, new niches, geography or simply hard work we constantly see successful new entrants from both the affiliate and operator side launch and grow to take market share which is what makes our sector so exciting and dynamic. This award is there to congratulate those newcomers and recognise that they are the best of the best of that year.

All newcomers must be a new launch to the igaming affiliate market from Oct 1st 2015 to Nov 1st 2016, unfortunately a redesign or re-launch will not be accepted in this category.

The judges will be marking against example criteria such as the below:

Affiliates

  • What differentiates you from the “crowd”?
  • What growth have you seen since launch in terms of traffic and revenue?
  • How have you innovated?
  • How are you generating traffic and how does this compare to your competitors?
  • What are your business objectives for year 1 and 2 and how are you doing against these?
  • How do you see the business scaling?

Affiliate programs

  • What differentiates you from the “crowd”?
  • What growth have you seen since launch in terms of affiliate signups and players generated from this source?
  • How have you innovated?
  • What do you do differently to manage and grow both your affiliate and player database?
  • What are your business objectives for year 1 and 2 and how are you doing against these?
  • How do you see the business scaling?

Gambling or gaming can be traced back thousands of years and many of the most popular games are the oldest however there is still huge opportunity for innovation in this sector whether this is a completely new game or technical innovation to increase player retention. In this category we want to find the most innovative product or solution created since 1st October 2015.

The judges will be marking against example criteria such as the below:

  • What makes this innovation a game changer – How is it different?
  • What are the key benefits of this innovation?
  • What evidence do you have of how this innovation has provided positive ROI or had a significant business impact
  • How do you expect to further develop this piece of innovation over 1, 3 and 5 years?
  • Best foreign language website
  • Best foreign language affiliate program

This is a new award introduced in 2016 to recognise the affiliates and affiliate programs that operate outside of the English speaking markets. This was a direct result of industry feedback that felt it was difficult for specific country focused businesses to compete in some of the other categories that are at times very English language focused due to the nature of the industry and our community.

The judges will be marking against example criteria such as the below:

Affiliates

  • How has your business grown over the last 12 months?
  • What positive changes have you implemented and how has this changed your business?
  • How have you increased the volume and quality of your traffic?
  • How have you innovated in the last 12 months?
  • How has your rankings changed over the last 12 months?
  • How have you increased your brand power over the last 12 months?
  • How have you improved your relationships with your affiliate programs in the last 12 months?

Affiliate programs

  • How has your program changed in the last 12 months?
  • How have you innovated in the last 12 months?
  • What have you done to improve your relationship with your affiliates?
  • What have you done to increase market share?
  • What have you done to increase player conversion and retention?
  • How have you helped your current affiliate base grow their earnings and business?
  • How have you improved how you support affiliates?
  • What have you done to attract and retain new affiliates?

One of the biggest game changers in marketing has been the proliferation of social media and therefore the ability for brands to influence and lead conversations. As result established affiliates have utilised this channel to drive additional traffic, connect with their community and raise their brand whilst at the same time new affiliates have emerged that in some cases only use this channel to drive traffic. This new award has been created to reward affiliates that are utilising this channel in the best way possible with specific focus on what they have done over the last 12 months?

The judges will be marking against example criteria such as the below:

  • How are you using social media in your business and how has this improved over the last 12 months?
  • What makes what you do with social media different from your competitors?
  • Please provide your key performance indicators in social media and how these have changed over the last 12 months.
  • How do you integrate social media into other marketing activity you carry out?
  • How does your use of social media support your overall business objectives?

With competition at its highest affiliate programs have to be smart about how they recruit and retain affiliates and as such there is some extremely interesting and original campaigns created by affiliate programs.

As always in marketing this doesn’t simply mean who has spent the most money but who has created and deployed the most efficient and intelligent campaign. This award will recognise the affiliate program that has done just that in the last 12 months.

The judges will be marking against example criteria such as the below:

  • What made your campaign stand out from the crowd?
  • Please supply KPIs used to measure the success of the campaign?
  • What channels did you utilise to deliver the campaign and how did they complement each other?
  • How did the campaign support your overall brand position and messaging?
  • How did the campaign fit and contribute to your overall business objectives?

Process

The underlying theme for the awards in 2016 is momentum. Being the biggest is a great achievement but we are interested in what you have done to maintain and grow that position over the last 12 months (October 2015 – October 2016) not simply that you are the biggest. For this reason the awards are focusing purely on what you or your business has achieved in the last 12 months and how that separates you from the rest of the crowd.

The 2017 iGB Affiliate Awards nominations and judging process will be as follows:

Anyone working within the iGaming Affiliate industry can submit nominations to the iGB Affiliate Awards whether entering themselves, their organisation or nominating on behalf of an individual or organisation. Just visit the "Enter" page to submit your entry. Please note that you will only be able to submit one entry per category, and you will only be able to submit the entire nominations form once.

Upon the closing of nominations, all of the nominations received will be sent through to the nominations board. This board of specially selected experts will assess each nominee against the category criteria and together will decide the final shortlist.

On the day that the shortlist is announced the top 7 entrants in each category, as deemed by the nominations board, will be shortlisted and announced. This highly commended list will be announced at the awards evening and the winners presented with their trophies.

Those shortlisted (the top entrants per category) will be sent a submission form for completion to explain how they meet the criteria for each award. These completed forms will then be submitted to the judging panel. The criteria will focus on the last 12 months and not before – the awards will be about momentum and not size.

Once submission forms are received, our judging panel, which consists of independent experts to ensure that the integrity of the awards are upheld, will evaluate each short listed nomination against the judging criteria in order to select the final winners. The judging process is a rigorous and thorough procedure; each nomination will be considered upon their form submission entry and evaluated against the judging criteria.

The judging panel will analyse and assess all applicant submissions against specific award category criteria where there will assign defined marks against each criteria point providing an overall total. There will also be a head judge for each category who is accountable for the final decision collated with his fellow judges. The judge’s decision will be final but the head judge will only get involved if it’s a tie.

The judging panel will complete a document for each award that clearly defines why each winner won. These will be made available for you to view.
