Home, racecourse or office based, with occasional visits to Racing Post Floor 7, Vivo Building, South Bank Central, 30 Stamford Street, London, SE1 9LS.

Job Purpose/Summary:

A rare opportunity has arisen to join the Racing Post's Raceday team as a Race Analyst. 

Our Race Analysts are key contributors to Spotlight Sports Group's content team, responsible for delivering insightful and accurate analysis of races in Britain, Ireland and further afield. This role combines expert knowledge of form with a strong ability to interpret and describe races in a way that informs and engages audiences, all the while upholding the Racing Post's reputation for accuracy and clarity. 

By producing high-quality in-running and post-race commentary, the Race Analyst plays an essential role in maintaining the Racing Post’s reputation as a trusted source for horse racing analysis.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

  • Writing analysis comments
  • Writing in-running comments
  • Taking sectional times
  • Subbing analysis and in-running comments
  • Training and giving feedback on Raceday tasks where required
  • Adhere to media and copyright laws
  • Other duties as and when required


Requirements:

  • In-depth knowledge of British and Irish horse racing (other jurisdictions advantageous but not essential)
  • Demonstrable skill in form analysis
  • A working knowledge of handicapping principles and contemporary form analysis methods, such as sectional timing
  • Ability to interpret and describe races in an insightful way
  • Excellent standard of written English
  • First class attention to detail
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Receptive to feedback and adaptable in your working methods
