SoftSwiss recommends the best spots in Lisbon
Published 13th October 2018
Lisbon is definitely one the most enchanting European capitals. Situated on a wide river (with two giant bridges running across it), Lisbon is known for its architecture, panoramic views, nightlife, street art...
In short, if you get to spend just a couple of days there, you land in a tough FOMO situation.
For hard-working affiliates who only have a little bit of time to explore Lisbon, the team at SoftSwiss recommends just TWO trusted spots to party hard, immerse in local culture, make a selfie or hold a business lunch. So, here are their picks!
For stunning views
This is an extremely hard one, since the hilly Lisbon boasts dozens of viewpoints ("miradouros") scattered around the historical centre as well as the port area. SoftSwiss's favourite one is Miradouro Da Graça in the Graça neighbourhood, which you can walk up to or access by car.
Another sweet spot is on the roof of Hotel do Chiado near Baixa-Chiado underground station. Yes, you've guessed right, this one includes a rooftop bar!
Should you be looking to indulge in some selfless pub crawling, go to Cais De Sodré! Centrally located and dotted with versatile bars and clubs, it's no surprise this area is crowded with all sorts of fun people on Friday nights.
For a more, perhaps, "civilised" nightlife experience consider LuxFrágil. One of Lisbon's famous night venues is said to have a richer-than-your-average-club taste for music acts, so be sure to check the agenda beforehand.
For cultural enlightenment
If you don't think that any and all museums are boring, a good introduction to things typically Portuguese is Museu Nacional do Azulejo. The "azulejo" are those skilfully painted, glazed ceramic tiles that you'll find everywhere on Lisbon's buildings.
Another highlight is Museu de Marinha in Belém telling the epic history of Portuguese navigation. It is located inside the Mosteiros dos Jeronimos complex with absolutely stunning 16th-century architecture.
For business lunches
The Portuguese cuisine is cherished for the seafood, so why not try something local and fresh in a hip place. For lunches or dinners in the city centre, Chapitô à Mesa may turn out your perfect choice. As for gatherings close to the FIL Expo Centre, SoftSwiss would pick Páteo restaurant.
SoftSwiss is a widely acclaimed iGaming software provider and one of the main sponsors of the Lisbon Affiliate Conference.
