The role
The Head of Controlling plays a critical role in safeguarding the financial integrity of Gentoo Media by ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and transparency of financial reporting and controlling processes. This role will cover the entire Gentoo Media Group internationally and is responsible for developing and maintaining a strong internal control environment in accordance with IFRS, driving process improvements, ensuring audit readiness, and ensuring compliance with internal and external accounting standards.

You will work closely with senior leadership to provide financial insights that enable informed decision-making, supporting Gentoo Media's continued growth and success in the dynamic media landscape.
What you will be doing
Financial Controlling & Reporting
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reporting and cashflow across Gentoo Media's international operations, in line with internal policies and external requirements.
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting processes, consolidation, eliminations, delivering consistent, reliable, and transparent financial information to senior management and stakeholders.
- Monitor key financial KPIs and performance drivers, proactively identifying risks and opportunities.
Compliance, Financial Integrity & Audit Management
- Ensure strict adherence to internal and external compliance requirements, including IFRS, local GAAP, and other applicable regulations across all jurisdictions.
- Develop, implement, and enforce accounting policies and procedures that support financial integrity and operational excellence.
- Lead the preparation, coordination, and execution of internal and external audits, including statutory, tax, and regulatory audits across the Group.
- Act as the primary point of contact for auditors, ensuring efficient, transparent, and well-coordinated audit processes.
- Proactively address audit findings with the Audit Committee, implementing corrective actions and continuously strengthening the control environment.
Internal Control Environment
- Maintain and continuously improve a robust internal control framework that mitigates financial and operational risks across Gentoo Media.
- Ensure the safeguarding of assets, reliability of financial data, and full compliance with internal policies.
- Foster a strong risk and compliance culture within the finance team and across the organization.
Process Improvement & Financial Systems
- Lead initiatives to streamline, standardize, and automate financial processes, supporting scalability and efficiency as Gentoo Media continues to grow.
- Oversee the development, maintenance, and optimization of financial systems and tools, ensuring data integrity.
- Evaluate and implement technology-driven solutions that improve operational effectiveness and support automation of key processes.
Team Leadership & Development
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing, international controlling team that embodies Gentoo Media’s values of accountability, collaboration, and compassionate leadership.
- Set clear objectives, provide constructive feedback, and support the professional development of team members.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and business partner to senior leadership, providing financial insights that drive informed decision-making across Gentoo Media.
Who we are looking for
- University degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; CPA, ACCA, or equivalent qualification is highly desirable.
- Significant experience (typically 7+ years) in a senior controlling, financial leadership, or audit management role within an international, multi-entity environment, ideally within media, technology, or similarly dynamic industries.
- Deep knowledge of IFRS, accounting standards, internal controls, and audit processes.
- Proven track record of leading teams with empathy, integrity, and a focus on professional growth.
- Strong experience with financial systems, process automation, and driving operational improvements.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a hands-on, solution-oriented mindset.
- High attention to detail, with the ability to manage complexity and drive standardization in a fast-paced, evolving organization.
