Swedish regulator imposes sanctions

Genesis has been fined SEK4m (£330,000/€380,000/$432,000) and handed an official warning, while Paf has been fined SEK100,000.
Since the re-regulated market opened up at the start of 2019, licensed operators in Sweden have been required to block access to anyone that has signed up to the Spelpaus self-exclusion scheme. Licensees must also ensure that those who have self-excluded don’t receive marketing materials.
Genesis owns and operates the Casinojoy.com, Spel.com, Casinocruise.com, Spinit.com, Sloty.com, Vegashero.com, Pelaa.com and Casinogods.com websites in Sweden, while Paf is active in the country via its Paf.com and Paf.se sites.
Spelinspektionen, Sweden’s gambling regulator, had previously warned Genesis Global that it faced serious sanctions if it failed to comply with the rules.
The watchdog said last month that more than 20,000 individuals had signed up to the scheme, with most of them having asked to be excluded on an indefinite basis.
