Hills to review media planning strategy

UK bookmaker William Hill has reportedly kicked off a review of its media planning and buying strategy.

Dentsu Aegis Network’s Vizeum, which has held the account since December 2011, has been invited to repitch for the business, according to the Campaign Live website.

Vizeum initially pitched against WPP's MEC and Ominicom's Manning Gottlieb OMD.

The review will take place ahead of major changes in gambling advertising across the UK. From this summer, there will be no ads during live sports broadcasts on television or before 9pm.

There have also been significant changes recently at William Hill.

Late last year, William Hill hired a new global brand and marketing director, Charlotte Emery.

In December, as it was closing in on the takeover of Mr Green operator MRG, Hills confirmed that it was reviewing more than 100 jobs.

Although the number of likely redundancies has not been confirmed – and the company has stressed that many of the employee positions under review will be retained, redeployed or relocated – the review is covering a number of the bookmaker’s departments in Leeds, London and Gibraltar.

The William Hill Affiliates website’s registered office is in Gibraltar.
