The Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ), in its latest quarterly report, said that spending on affiliate marketing reached €7.4m – a 49.8% rise in comparison with the corresponding period last year.
This led to a 30.7% year-on-year increase in average active accounts to 812,007, although new user numbers dropped by 1.9% to 232,012.
The DGOJ said that total revenue for the three months through to the end of September reached €181.8m, driven by a 27.4% increase in sports betting turnover to €97.4m.
The period covered the final days of the Fifa World Cup, at the start of July. The tournament started in June, which provided Spanish iGaming operators with their best ever month in terms of wagering.
